Theme: BRINGING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO EVERY CHILD
In April 29th 2015, CEMREST Belgium donated some information technology equipments to a primary school in a disadvantage community in the South West Region of Cameroon. This project goes as a first phase for CEMREST support action for children education and promotion of information technology to children which have been neglected for over the years. This donation included a brand new HP desktop computer and an HP LaserJet Printer, 10 realms of paper and other book and pens for the was awarded to the best three student of each class. The donation was worth 300, 000 Frs.
This project builds on current global scene where information technology is at the center of development in the world today. This project comes at a time when the government of Cameroon in an effort to promote information technology in the educational sector if facing so many difficulties at the level efficiency and resources. It is against the backdrop that CEREMST Belgium in collaboration with other local youth association based in Cameroon (Local Youth Corner Cameroon) has engaged in this civil action to assist the state in promoting Information technology from the basic level of education.
Present during this event was the Country representative of CEMREST, the Cameroon Youth Ambassador to the Commonwealth, and the manager of Presbyterian Primary Schools in the region and other traditional dignitaries of the community.
During this event, CEMREST established a partnership with the school to provide necessary support especially in the field of ITC so as to promote sustainable education.
The head teacher of the school expressed her gratitude for this “August support” and called on to CEMREST to come to always be there for them. Her greatest desire was that someday the institutions acquire an IT center of which is greatly need by the children.
